2015: Here Goes Nothin’

January 1st, 2015

First day of a new year. I just don’t think that it gets any better than that.

It’s like finding a brand new notebook in your desk that you forgot you bought a while back, so you forget the old one and start writing your to-do list on page 1… Just because it feels better than starting it on page 58 in another used book. Just me? Ok good.

2014 for me was an amazing year. I remember when 2013 ended, my family and I all sighed and said

“Praise God.”

2014 wasn’t that year.

It was the year that I moved into a home that I can see my family in for the long haul.

It was the year that Burley and I found out we would become parents.

It was the year that I settled in and grew into a position at a job that I love.

It was the year that my family started healing our wounds and seeing life through renewed eyes again.

It was the year that I gleaned far more from the blogging community than you gleaned from me, but isn’t that just how relationships go sometimes? eh?

It was the year that I prepared for my world to be turned upside down and inside out, as I start the journey of becoming a mom to a perfect little monster of a son.

And now… January 2015 is here… All of the preparation is done… And I am sitting peacefully in my living room, feeling my 37.5 week old baby roll around in my belly… Anticipating any day now when he will be rolling around in my arms.

This year is going to be full of firsts. For me. For my husband. For my son. For our lives in general. And that is one of the most refreshing feelings in the world.

Let’s be honest.. I haven’t picked my “one word to define this year” or even written down any goals for 2015 at this point. But I do know that my heart wants to write/journal/document more (translation: blog), Take more photos with my DSLR (and not just for the blog), be in each moment and not worry about the next, clean up my mouth (did you know I am a trucker at heart?), read more scripture, write more music, and give in to the humor of the insanity that my life is about to become, rather than fight it.

What about you? Are you a focused goal setter this year or are you just squishing some random thoughts on goals into a blog post on Thursday night like me? What does 2015 bring for you and yours?

Thanks for reading and following a long with me. This community and this outlet are life breathers for me… So thanks for allowing that to happen. Cheers to us in this new year. 2015 is going to be a doozy.
